The Blue Jays' season is over without Morrow

Brandon Morrow has to be the one player that the Jays get by without him in the lineup. They have survived without their closer and still playing above .500. Without Bautista or Encarnacion in the lineup they wouldn't manufacture as many runs but with all the young bats in the organization they would get by. If any other starter went down they would still be able to get by. But Morrow has been a star for much of the season. In many games he has been unhittable and as intimidating as any starter in the AL. With him in the rotation no losing streak goes longer than 4 games. They can get by with another youngster in the rotation too. But they will also drop out of contention for one of the wild car spots.

Now everyone in the media will be telling you how Alex A. has to go out and trade for another arm. Reporters covering sports teams like to pretend how they are managing the team. Well it ain't going to happen. The one thing I can tell you about Alex A. is that he sticks to his plan - build his roster through players in the farm system. He's not going to throw away some good and cheap talent for a bandaid pitcher. The Jays manager never considered his team to be contender this year - just too much young talent needing seasoning. So young farm hands will get a chance to show their stuff just like Gomes, Cooper and Hutchison have been given that chance.

So kiss 2012 goodbye. It was always a pipe dream anyway.
