Good Lord! Strubs Pickles is going under!

Strubs, king of the sour and half-sour dill, the essential accessory to one of God’s greatest creations lies today insolvent.

The future of 80 years of Toronto pickle processing history hangs in the balance. The U.S housing crisis pales in comparison.

In 1929, Michael and Sophie Strub started in the pickle business, a backyard operation just outside Hamilton. They made pickles the same way my dear mother made them until dementia robbed her of her pickling skills among others.

Those pickles were near and dear to my heart.

Last year it was Open Window. This year it's Strubs. It's all so depressing.
