While fans across the continent celebrate championships throughout the year, here in Toronto we can only hope and wait. Though hope is waning these days.
Toronto Maple Leafs
- finished 14th in the East this season
- last made the playoffs in 2004
- last won the Stanley Cup in 1967
Toronto Blue Jays
- 18 seasons without making the playoffs
- last won the World Series in 1993
- 23rd overall in payroll
Toronto Raptors
- in 17 season have only made the playoffs 5 times
- not been in the playoffs since 2008
- have only won one playoff series
Toronto Argos
- 6 out of 8 teams make the playoffs, but only been in the playoffs once in last 4 years
- haven't won the Grey Cup since 2004
A pathetic record all around. Top free agents spurn to Toronto for the most part. If the Raptors can't attract the most famous Canadian basketball player by outbidding the competition by millions then who will come here?
The Jays would likely find themselves in the same boat if they actually would spend the money - which they don't. Their biggest offseason signing was Francisco Cordero and we already know how well that has worked out. Their last significant signings were A.J. Burnett and B.J. Ryan back in 2006.
The Leafs are just a basket case. They too easily trade draft picks in an era where everyone holds on tight to them. They overspend on nobodies while everyone else blows their budget on big stars. They either ruin their young players or give up on them.
Well then there is the Argos. They have been a CFL joke for a couple of decades with the exception of a few good years under Doug Flutie and Damon Allen.
