Today, competitive eaters competed in Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog-Eating Contest, a tradition that has been going strong since 1916 - the American tradition of overeating at holidays.
There were over 40,000 spectators at Coney Island to watch the disgusting spectacle. They were lucky enough to see a world record broken: Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas ate 45 hot dogs in 10 minutes, breaking her record of 41 hot dogs in 2009.
Thomas is a mere 100 pounds, and she also holds the competitive eating titles in oysters, crawfish, clams, chicken wings, and turkey.
Those 65 hot dogs add up to 21,012 calories (recommended daily intake is 2,000), 16506 g of fat (RDI is 65) 50,290 mg of salt (RDI is 2,300), 2,888 g of carbohydrates (RDI is 300) 82 g of fiber (RDI is 25), and 720 g of protein (RDI is 50). Joey, you might want to see your doctor in the morning.
